I recently retired from the State. Every year the State agency for which I worked would hold a 3 day conclave for middle and upper management (Grade25's and above) at West Point. Their stay at a local hotel and their meals were all paid for by the Taxpayers. They would spend their time listening to motivational and inspirational speakers who were also paid for by the taxpayers. These lectures were overgeneralized, had no programatic content, and had the most tenuous relationship to the actual work. The state agencys should stop wasting taxpayer money on such useless meetings.
