Okay fellow taxpayers, it's time to look in the mirror and acknowledge that part of the problem is us. EVERY State Legislator & State Senator prides him or herself on 'bringing home the bacon". Look at the mailings: here's Senator Smith at the groundbreaking for the NEW playground, nature walk, ballfield, library extension etc. Probably most of these endeavors do increase the quality of life for many but we have to say enough is enough. If the benefit is local, and the project doesn't involve health or safety of the community, the funds should be local. let's have Ribbon Cuttings for Maintenance instead. I look forward to the headline, "Congressman White's congratulates local crew for best maintained public library, park (fill in the blank) facilities in County" or something of that ilk. Let's stop the pattern of deterioration and replacement and maintain instead. And we'll just have to make due with the ballfields we have, because adding more, means more maintenance dollars needed, too, even if a private entity supports the initial construction.
