I suggest we do away with all assessments and tax all residential properties at a flat rate. The flat rate could be done each town or state wide. Currently a property tax could range from $100 to $30,000 Eliminating the assessment would 1.- balance out low med and high income payments, let’s remember that each tax payer throughout the state receives the same basic items government, roads, utilities etc. 2.- There would be huge savings with the elimination of assessment department across the state. 3.- Currently the courts are bogged down with tax grievances the only one that wins are the lawyers no more grievances. 4.- With a fixed flat rate NY would attract big dollar residential housing, with high end homes comes more local spending.

I'm sure it's not as easy done as I WISH but it makes lots of sense. Currently NY is losing population I think this would draw people to NY
