Welcome to Straight Talk from the Taxpayer!

The Office of Taxpayer Accountability (OTA) created this site to engage in an open dialogue with the people of New York State. Straight Talk from the Taxpayer allows taxpayers to offer new ideas to cut costs, streamline government operations and to discuss those ideas publicly with one another. We welcome comments from readers which adds new information and context to this discussion. We reserve the right to deny or remove any comments that:

  1. Are not related to the topic

  2. Contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive terms that target specific ethnic, gender or racial groups

  3. Endorse or promote services or products

  4. Make unsupported accusations or claims

  5. Advocate or encourage illegal activity
